Installation
Choosing an install method
Decide between Docker and a bare-metal install, and see what each one needs.
Reqursor Development is self-hosted. You install it on your own server or a Raspberry Pi 5. There is no hosted version of the product itself, only the license server that activates it.
There are two ways to run it:
| Docker | Bare metal | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Most servers, and anyone already running Docker | A dedicated Raspberry Pi 5 or Linux box with nothing else on it |
| Runs as | A Docker Compose stack | systemd services |
| Supported OS | Any Linux host that runs Docker, amd64 or arm64 | Raspberry Pi OS (64-bit, Bookworm) or Ubuntu 24.04 (amd64) |
| Updates | docker compose pull plus a restart | The in-app Check for updates flow |
If you're not sure, use Docker: it's the simpler path to keep updated.
What either method needs
- A server or Raspberry Pi 5 with internet access. The instance calls out to your configured
model provider, your git remote, and
license.reqursor.comfor daily activation. Nothing else leaves the box. - A place to put persistent data (
/data): state, encrypted secrets, workspaces and artifacts all live there. Back it with real storage, on a Raspberry Pi an SSD rather than the SD card, which wears out under this kind of write load. - A license to activate: a 14-day trial (no card required), a license key, or, on Enterprise, an offline license file. You pick one in the first step of the setup wizard, so there's nothing to prepare here beforehand.
