When credits run out
Why a ticket pauses, what starts it again, and how a spending limit differs from an empty balance.
When your available credits are below what a run needs, Reqursor Development pauses the ticket instead of starting work it cannot pay for. The ticket is paused, not failed.
What you see
- The ticket shows Paused: waiting for credits, with how many credits it needs and how many are available.
- The top bar shows your balance with a note such as Low balance or No credits left.
- On
license.reqursor.com, the Reqursor Credits page shows a notice when your credits are running low, when none are left, and when you have used 75% or 90% of your included monthly credits, or all of them.
Reqursor also emails your account contact and billing contacts when you have used 75% and 90% of your included monthly credits, when you have used all of them, when your balance is low, and when a ticket pauses for lack of credits. It also confirms each top-up, or tells you when a payment did not go through. Each notice is sent once per period, and the paused notice at most once a day.
What starts it again
A paused ticket starts again by itself once the balance covers what it needs. Reqursor Development checks the balance regularly, so you do not restart anything.
- A top-up. Buying credits raises your balance. See Top-ups.
- Your next monthly credits. Included credits are granted for each billing period. A renewal grants its credits once its invoice is paid, so after a card renewal there can be a short wait until the payment clears.
If usage was reported late, or a refund was applied, your balance can go below zero. New runs wait until a grant or a top-up covers the shortfall, and it is repaid first.
What you can do while it waits
- Buy credits.
- Lower the ticket's credit budget in your install. See Budgets and cost control.
- Choose a lower-cost model for future work. See Models and routing.
Balance versus spending limit
A ticket can pause for two different reasons, and they are fixed in different ways.
Balance too low
- The banner says Paused: waiting for credits.
- Your available credits are below what the ticket needs.
- A top-up or your next monthly credits start it again.
Spending limit reached
- The banner says Paused: daily spending limit reached.
- The license reached its daily limit on AI usage. This is separate from your balance, so having plenty of credits does not lift it.
- Buying credits does not help. The ticket starts again by itself when the limit resets, and the banner shows when that is.
- Reqursor sends no email for this pause, because buying credits would not help.
You can also cap what a project may use, in whole credits, in Settings → Budgets & guardrails: per ticket (the most credits one ticket may use), per day and per calendar month. A cap of 0 means no cap. When a per-day or per-month cap is reached, new runs in that project wait until the period passes or you raise the cap. See Budgets and cost control.
Credits on hold
If your balance shows Credits on hold, new runs cannot start while the hold lasts. Contact support: see How to get help.
Running out does not change your license
Running out of credits pauses AI work only. It never changes what your license allows.
